Chinook operates an NIST – traceable calibration/certification facility to provide quality assurance (QA) support for the fundamental measurements related to obtaining air quality concentrations.

Streamline FTS

When the Streamline™ FTS is calibrated at laboratory conditions, the patented orifice element provides a calibration relationship based on the specific geometry it had at those laboratory conditions. Because of the durable, patented materials of which it is constructed, its geometry, performance and calibration do not change with changes in air temperature, humidity or pressure. Other flow rate measurement devices can expand, contract or distort when used at conditions other than those at which they were calibrated, providing unreliable flow rate measurements away from the lab. This situation is at its worst when the flow rate measurement device relies on polymeric, metallic, or combined materials, which have high and/or variable thermal expansion properties. Chinook's state-of-the-art flow metrology apparatus ensures that each Streamline™ device provides NIST-traceable measurements to primary mass and time standards.

Streamline™ FTS flow meters are certified against NIST traceable Critical Flow Venturis. White units are typically calibrated 5-20 lpm, black units 0.5-6 lpm. Custom calibrations over other flow ranges are available. "As-Received" tests can be conducted and reports generated. Streamline Pro

Model M, S, SX, H and HL flow rate, flow temperature and ambient pressure are calibrated against our Critical Flow Venturis and primary standards for temperature and pressure. All parameters are NIST traceable, maintained in tight quality control. Flow rates above 55 lpm are generated and calibrated using a Dresser™ Roots® meter.

Manometers

Electronic manometers are mounted in parallel with an NIST traceable precision well-type liquid manometer, an NIST recognized primary standard, and another electronic manometer. The manometer is zeroed and its accuracy is then checked under dynamic vacuum conditions. See the Certification Services Sheet for details and costs of certification services.

Barometers

Electronic or mechanical barometers are placed in a barometric chamber, fitted with a precision NIST traceable absolute barometer. An adjustable pressure variator allows establishment of stable barometric pressures in the range of expected use. Thermometers

Electronic or mechanical thermometers are placed in large thermal mass containers, fitted with a precision NIST traceable Thermistor or Hg-in-glass thermometer. Thermometers are typically certified at 0°C, and approximately 10°C and 25°C, reflecting normal ambient conditions. Higher and lower temperatures and additional points are available. Hygrometers

Electronic hygrometers are checked for accuracy by comparison with selected aqueous saturated salt solutions maintained in accordance with ASTM E 104-02. See the Certification Services Sheet for details and costs of certification services.

Dry Gas Meters

Dry gas meters are checked for accuracy by comparison with flow rates through NIST traceable critical flow venturis. Contact Chinook Engineering Chinook@imlinc.com for discussion of services specific to your meter.

Hi Vol and PUF Orifice Transfer Standards

Hi Vol flow orifice transfer standards are calibrated against a Dresser™ Roots meter. Calibration apparatus and procedures adhere to EPA QA Handbook Section 2.11 specifications.
